Activity Name: Flag Raising Ceremony
Objectives:

3.Learn to respect the national flag and promote civic education.
Activity:
The teacher introduced the differences between the national flag and regional flags of China with a presentation, helped students to understand the meanings represented by these flags. The teacher also explained the important points to note during the flag-raising ceremony, such as the need to stand quietly and respectfully, facing the flagpole, and keep their eyes on the flag as it is raised. Finally, everyone stood solemnly as the national anthem was played for the flag-raising ceremony.

Activity Name: Understanding Chinese Food Culture
Objective: The theme of this activity is Chinese food culture. Through sensory exploration activities, art, games and visits, children will develop a preliminary understanding of Chinese food culture.
Activities:
Activity 1: —- Explore tea leaves and tea tasting through different senses.
Activity Two: Dim Sum Master—Creating restaurant-style dim sum using Resin clay.
Activity Three: Snack Matching – Get to know the diverse styles of snacks through group games.
Activity Four: Making Dumplings – Create delicious dumplings using dough.
Activity Five: Perfectly Flawless – Create an art piece using melon seeds, design a Chinese-style painting for the New Year.

Activity Name: Chinese Culture – Traditional Toys
Objective: To stimulate young children’s interest in learning through various activities, such as exploration activities, art, games and visits, allowing them to understand the characteristics of “traditional Chinese toys.”
Activities:
Activity 1: Tangram – Training children’s brainpower, creativity and thinking skills through hands-on manipulation.
Activity Two: Shuttlecock Competition – Children will create their own unique shuttlecock and then have a competition.
Activity Three: Little Bamboo Ball – Observe the differences between cuju and soccer, and then try playing.
Activity Four: Ding Ding Dong Handheld Drum – Making a “handheld drum” together using simple materials.
Activity Five: Clap Clap Paper Dolls—Design different patterns on paper cards and play.
K3 Class
Activity Name: Chinese Culture – Art
Objective: Children will visit museums or community exhibitions to appreciate works related to Chinese art. Through experiences such as calligraphy, Cantonese opera, participating in Chinese music concerts, learning about Chinese instruments and traditional clothing, they will learn about the unique styles of Chinese art and cultivate a preliminary understanding of it.
Activities:
Activity 1: Chinese Calligraphy – A guest speaker will introduce the tools and techniques for writing calligraphy, followed by a hands-on session where children can create their own unique pieces.
Activity Two: Cantonese Opera — Our school participated in the “Cantonese Opera school engagement programme”, where members of the opera troupe visited our campus. They guided the children into the world of Cantonese opera through performance demonstrations and interactive games, showcasing the basic elements of Cantonese opera.
Activity Three: Chinese Music Concert Hall — We invited an alumnus’ sister, along with a Chinese music teacher and the Chinese music ensemble from the teacher’s high school, to perform various famous pieces of Chinese music on campus. This activity aims to enhance young children’s understanding and foster their interest in studying Chinese music.

Objectives:

2.Activities and Features for Experiencing Chinese Culture
Activity:
Our school invited “HK Jigucun” to the campus to arrange the campus environment and organized various activities for children to participate. Activities included: traditional face-changing performances and kung fu acrobatics, participating in Chinese culture-themed booth games such as kettle throwing, archery and ancient football (cuju), tasting traditional snacks like maltose crackers, exploring ancient technologies such as printing and tie-dyeing, trying out ancient transportation tools like the “palanquin,” and Hanfu fitting etc. These allowed children to enhance their understanding of Chinese culture through experience.

Activity Content:
Teacher arranged various activities, such as making lanterns, snowy mooncakes, little rabbits, moon gazing, and solving lantern riddles, to deepen students’ understanding of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
